The year is 2188. Or so some believe. Orwell is dead, and so is democracy.
In the faraway country of WorldStage, fair is foul and foul is fair. Ruled by
the iron fist of a brutal regime called The Committee, the people of the
nation are cut off from the rest of the world. Education for the common
masses is banned, and the Annual Book Burning Ceremony has come
to be the biggest festival here. As the nation plunges head-first into this
barefaced celebration of destroying knowledge, a rebel rises to become
the face of change.
This Is A Dreamland follows the dual narratives of protest and conformity
to the oppressors. Meet Stana, a young rebel who teams up with an aging
mercenary called Scott to slip past the brutal Committee Police Force,
showcasing the weakness that lies behind the guns and violence. As her
escape inspires an uprising, turning her into the leader of a rebellion, the
novel also follows Sam, a lawyer. Struggling to mend his relations with
his estranged son, Brennan, Sam is a hardcore Committee loyalist lawyer
who played judge, jury, and executioner in his kangaroo courts. With
the rebellion causing uproar, Sam sees it as an opportunity to gain more
political power, as Stana commits to bringing down the regime once and
for all. As all roads lead to home, tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow
creeps in a petty pace to deadly ends.
